Honoring Bookshare’s Project Treasure Chest Volunteers

The response to our first contest, known as Project Treasure Chest, has been wonderful. Eight Bookshare volunteers scanned and submitted a minimum of ten books in excellent condition between January 10 and March 31. Most of these people scanned more than ten books, with one person scanning 50 books in that time frame. Due to the efforts of these people, Bookshare’s collection has grown, and Bookshare members have some high-quality new books to enjoy. Let’s get to know these dedicated volunteers! :)

Project Treasure Chest Submitters

  • Amber W. is a versatile volunteer who scans books from almost every genre. She has a passion for scanning books that are not easily available in other libraries for the blind
  • Anthea is a new volunteer who has worked hard to submit books by V.C. Andrews as well as some romances. We’re glad to have her on the Bookshare team.
  • Barbara B. is a passionate volunteer who scanns books from a wide range of genres and works tirelessly to improve the quality of books already in the collection.
  • Deborah M. is a dedicated volunteer who submits some wonderful historical fiction, mysteries, wish list titles, and books about politics.
  • Grace is a team player who serves where she is needed. She both scans and validates books for Bookshare. She submits romances and historical fiction, and her books are popular with Bookshare readers
  • Jamie Y. is an enthusiastic volunteer who scans books from the wish list, mysteries, cookbooks, and lots of books for children and teens. She also helped to build a collection of books about celebrating Kwanzaa.
  • Lisa J. is one of our unsung heroes who scans books with Christian themes and educational titles. Her dedication supports Bookshare’s students.
  • Natasha B. is a prolific submitter who scans excellent fiction including the American Girl collection, several mystery series, and books for teens.
  • Mayrie R. is a very active submitter who scanns some great mysteries, wish list titles, books for teens, and romances. Her books don’t stay in the validation pool for long.
  • Robert T. is a champion of free speech and submits adult books that are requested by Bookshare members. He also submits mysteries, fantasy, and science fiction.
  • Shelley R. is a team player who scans books from the Bookshare wish list, books for children, and is working on a project to provide a collection of books about animals from around the world.
