Somewhere Down In Texas

I got George Strait’s new album called Somewhere Down In Texas today. This is one of his best. It’s still in his style, but there is something different too. It’s more thoughtful and has a gentle, somewhat nostalgic style. The music has more instrumental harmony in it. I don’t know the terms to describe it technically, but the song The Seashores Of Old Mexico is like walking on a soft, bouncy carpet. It suits me right now, and it feels like an old, familiar friend. The song Ready For The End Of The World makes me smile: I guess because I’ve been there. I wish it was spring or summer so I could convince my dad to take me for a spin in his sports car with the top down and this CD in the player. My heart sure is there right now.
